What is a 30's Uke Girl up to these days??

My photo
I’m a lifelong musician, been writing songs since I was 16. And, they got better with time and practice. Everything gets better with practice! As a wise man once said, “Don’t practice till you get it right, practice till you can’t get it wrong!” I love teaching ukulele, and also teaching voice and of course, songwriting. A song is nothing more than a story, and if you sing it as if it were a play, then you are using your voice correctly. If you write it as if it were a play, you engage the listeners. And bonus, if you use an instrument as an extension of your feelings, you can make the song soar. I intend to use this blog for the promotion of my ukulele passion, to introduce performers, review instruments, luthiers, and give links to great UKE websites. I also will keep links to festivals, events, and clubs. My other passion is biographical content, and I’ll be adding many of those, especially about the early artists from the 20s 30s 40s. A lost treasure trove of talent. Hope you enjoy the varied content. It will be eclectic, like me!

South Tampa Ukulele Jam

A meager beginning. Who knew it would grow as big as it did.

October's South Tampa Jam grew exponentially!  Lots of songs, lots of singers getting up to the mic to lead Spooky songs of Fall, and lots of laughs!  Here are the photos that Jennifer Lane took!  You are all a great bunch of people.

Hey fellow Uke'rs, I will post video in here as best I can so that you can practice the songs we will be doing at our jams.  I am hoping you will all go an get a capo so that I cam pull songs from the books, but raise them as needed so I can hit the notes!  Thank Goodness for Kents strong voice on all the boy songs!  What would we do without him???

September 21st South Tampa Jam in the Hall!
Consulting before the jam starts!
So it was our first TBUS South Tampa Jam in the Hall at our park.  It felt good to stretch out and I am sure we will need the room for next month, or as it is after midnight, THIS month! LOL.  Here are a couple of pics of our first event in the big hall.  Also, I have included some pics from the Beginner Session group that meets at my home.  What a great group they all are!

To the far right just outside the picture was Whistling Tom, and Donna, far right inside the picture is Kent, Leslie, Ann, Doc,  (a father and daughter to be named) , and Mike.  Residents of Regency Cove came in and sat behind the jammers and sang along!  They said that it was a grand time!

Such good form!!!

Man, it took me 12 to figure out how to do the video from my web cam.  I didn't know that when it said "Lost Connection" that it didn't stop taping, but each time it said that, I would stop and start over.  Over and over and over!  LOL.  Then I realized that it was taping even though I couldn't see my picture anymore, and that was when I did the final take.  When I was finished, my voice was gone.  But now I know, and we can even tape some of our live jam, so you can pull it up and practice!  Cool Beans Aye???  So here is the first of many, and remember, if I can do it, then so can you!
